“We share what we know, so that we all may grow.”

Submitter’s Note:
The following are some fine, powerful words from some gifted young New Zealand writers… which I found so uplifting and inspiring that I thought I’d share these short extracts on the www (thanks College Herald and The New Zealand Herald…

From Graffiti to Great Literature, All Writing is Important to Someone!
“The power of the pen has not diminished. It is an age-old way to escape, pour out emotions, play with ideas, give meaning to the world and also entertain. ALL writing is important and the power of the pen will stay strong until the end.”
Hazel Field, Year 13,
Epsom GIrls Grammar School
THE PEN IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE SWORD
What you write can have far-reaching consequences,
warns Shyamolie Mathur
“THINK before you write. Used correctly, the written word is a powerful tool and can be used for much good. The power of the pen lets us see the world through the eyes of journalists, writers and poets.
History records the role of writers in important revolutions around the world. The principles of liberty and equality were popularised among the people by the great writers of the 18th century, resulting in the French Revolution.
Writers have also changed the perception of history and people in it. Journalists can influence the opinions of people, whether in the field of world peace, global warning, politics or the economy.
So whether we choose to become poets, journalists, authors, or just remain ordinary people in the world of language, we should strive to influence the thought proceses of people towards positive thinking, be it in any field of life; because what we write today has a strong bearing on our future.”
They say, ‘the pen is mightier than the sword!”
Shyamolie Mathur, Year 90, Macleans College as published in the College Herald *, 8th June 2010

CHOOSE THE RIGHT WORDS AND THINK RIGHT
THEN YOU’LL LIVE RIGHT
(making a difference in this “happy, sad, crazy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], yet magical” world of ours).
Be happy as you “ride the river, or should that be?) the storms of life” #
Craig Lock
(“Information and Inspiration Distributer, Writer for Self Empowerment, Incorrigible Encourager and People-builder”)
# that’s a metaphor, BTW!
“My goal is to do justice to the gift that has been given to me. I cling to it like a religious faith. I want to be a poet who writes poems, which will challenge the consciousness of readers, who are fascinated by poetry.”
- New Zealand writer, Iain Britton (as published in the College Herald)
“If you can learn the power of words, you can help change the world.
Together one mind, one heart, one soul, one life at a time, let’s uplift, empower and impact the world…
for the better”
